On 7 July this year marks the sesquicentennial anniversary of the birth of Gustav Mahler. A "impallinato" like me could not miss an excuse so global, and therefore no flood of notes Mahler friends and occasional visitors to the blog. In the end, decide not know myself what had been the most appropriate tribute, I decided to bring Solomon played all ten symphonies, fishing from the archive of radio recordings "live" in my possession, limiting the radius of the last decade retrospective. In short, it will be an integral of the new millennium, caught here and there, where Mahler is at home. The selection criteria also had to give priority to the technical side, to make uniform the proposed material and do not depress the listener to hum or sound bad shots. Nine directors will be the creators of the interpretations offered (I know, does not add up, but one of them will double trouble ...). With plenty of material, it dilutes the whole month of July, hoping - as always - to do something pleasing to most.
It starts with the First Symphony, in the classic version in four movements and moving without the contribution of the deleted author, Blumine .
Good listening and good month Mahler.
